Lucien Muzard et Fils Bourgogne Rouge is a red wine from France, produced in the heart of the Burgundy region. The estate is managed by brothers Claude and Hervé Muzard, representing the ninth generation of a family with viticultural roots in Santenay dating back to 1645. Their winemaking philosophy emphasizes a deep respect for terroir through organic farming and manual labour, transitioning the estate away from bulk sales to bottling 100% of their production to ensure high quality and purity.
Wine Description
This wine displays a glowing ruby or mid purple colour. The aromatic profile is fragrant and attractive, featuring classic Pinot Noir notes of red fruit, particularly cherry, raspberry, and blueberry, alongside floral hints of violets and a touch of light spice. On the palate, it is fresh and well balanced with a juicy mouthfeel and a distinct silkiness. The structure is defined by fine, ripe tannins and a subtle slatey minerality that persists into a medium finish. This 100% Pinot Noir is sourced from 1950s plantings across three parcels located in Santenay, lower Chassagne, and the Hautes Cotes de Beaune.
Food Pairing
The bright acidity and red fruit profile of this Bourgogne Rouge make it a versatile partner for a variety of dishes. It pairs excellently with roasted white meats such as chicken, turkey, or veal roast with herbs. Its earthy undertones also complement meaty fish, porcini bruschetta, and pasta with red sauces. For a cheese course, it is well suited for mature cheeses or a truffle Brie.
