This vibrant red wine originates from France, specifically the Beaujolais region, within the prestigious cru of Fleurie. The estate is run by Anne-Sophie Dubois, a dynamic winemaker who took over the domaine in 2006 at the age of 23. Originally from a Champagne winemaking family, she chose to settle in Beaujolais in 1992 when her family purchased the property. Anne-Sophie is part of a young generation of vignerons redefining Beaujolais, focusing on organic farming (certified since 2018) and a minimal intervention approach in the cellar. Her philosophy is to express the fruit and finesse of Gamay grown on the pink granite soils of her Fleurie vineyards, using old barrels for ageing without imparting an oaky taste.
Wine Description
This 'Les Cocottes' is made from 100% Gamay. It is the first wine bottled in each vintage and is created for joyful, early drinking. The wine is a semi-carbonic maceration style, showcasing primary fruit and aromatic intensity. It typically presents as a light-to-medium bodied red. Expect a bouquet and palate bursting with crunchy red berry fruits like cherry, raspberry coulis, and wild strawberry, alongside notes of plum and a subtle earthy or floral undertone.
Food Pairing
This fresh and lively Beaujolais is an incredibly versatile companion to a variety of foods. It pairs beautifully with cheese and charcuterie, grilled duck or other poultry, and French onion soup. The wine's vibrant red fruit and refreshing acidity make it a superb match for BBQ seafood.
