The Cohiba Rubicon Echelon Select Toro takes one of the richer expressions in the American Cohiba portfolio and presents it in a substantial 6" x 54 Toro selected for the Echelon series. Rubicon was created to show a darker, more muscular side of Cohiba, moving beyond the refinement traditionally associated with the name toward a cigar with considerably more depth and intensity. The result is a cigar intended for the experienced smoker who wants the Cohiba pedigree accompanied by a fuller, more assertive tobacco profile.
At 6" x 54, the Echelon Select Toro gives Rubicon enough breadth to develop slowly without becoming an oversized cigar. The generous Toro proportions produce dense smoke and allow the blend's darker character to unfold gradually, with earth, cedar and roasted tobacco giving way to pepper, cocoa, espresso and underlying sweetness. There's strength here, but Rubicon's appeal is less about raw power than the way richer tobacco and spice are layered together. The 54-ring format rounds some of the sharper edges while preserving enough concentration to keep the cigar interesting from beginning to end.
The Echelon Select presentation makes particular sense for Rubicon. The program was conceived around recognizable premium blends presented in Toro or near-Toro dimensions, allowing smokers to experience established cigars through a substantial but still traditional format. Packaged 15 cigars to a box, the Cohiba Rubicon Echelon Select Toro offers a particularly satisfying intersection of Cohiba refinement and darker, more contemporary richness—a cigar with enough authority for the seasoned smoker without losing the balance expected from the Cohiba name.
