This iconic red wine hails from the Châteauneuf du Pape appellation in the southern Rhône Valley, France. The estate has been owned by the Perrin family since 1909, though its history dates back to 1549 when Pierre de Beaucastel first purchased the property. Known for their pioneering spirit, the Perrins have practiced organic and biodynamic viticulture since the 1950s, emphasizing a philosophy that respects the terroir and the unique character of all thirteen permitted grape varieties.
Wine Description
This wine presents a magnificent, shiny red colour with distinct carmine undertones. On the nose, it is powerful and complex, revealing a superb bouquet of very ripe red and black fruits, blackberries, and cassis, seamlessly integrated with notes of chocolate, tobacco, lavender, and undergrowth. The palate is generous and silky with a soft, round attack that leads into an elegant, well-balanced tannic structure and a rich finish featuring meaty and mineral notes.
Accolades
-

Food Pairing
This structured red is an ideal match for rich, savoury dishes such as roasted leg of lamb with Mediterranean herbs, grilled rib of beef, or venison stew. It also pairs beautifully with earthy flavours like wild mushrooms, hearty pasta, or mature cheeses like Comté and Parmesan.
