With his out-side-the-box ideas, the cigar world’s current golden boy AJ Fernandez has reinvigorated the cigar industry and redefined what makes a great cigar. Every cigar from Tabacalera Fernandez will generate some kind of discussion, but none like the mass excitement created by AJ’s masterpiece, the Ave Maria Reconquista.
The striking 7” x 54 Torpedo Reconquista is built one leaf at a time into a majestic, powerhouse of a cigar that must be experienced at least once in lifetime. A Nicaraguan Habano Ligero binder surrounds rich Nicaraguan tobaccos from the three most prominent regions, Esteli, Condega and Jalapa. This conglomeration of velvety tobaccos is then draped in a rare and exotic Brazilian Habano Oscuro wrapper that is meaty, oily and oozing with attitude.
Once the Reconquista is lit, the journey to smoking immortality begins. Pepper, earth, nougat, oak, toasted malt and dark espresso flavors playfully pelt the taste-buds while nutmeg and cinnamon undertones trail along. The Ave Maria Reconquista begins briefly as a medium-bodied smoke, but will crescendo into a bold character that will grab a hold and not let go until long after it is extinguished.
Each of the super-premium Ave Maria Reconquista cigars is elegantly placed in specially made “coffins” and, as you would expect, made in very limited quantities. So do not wait to become one of the initiated.
