The Room 101 Hit & Run Robusto is a masterful collaboration between cigar visionaries Matt Booth and Robert Caldwell, delivering a sensory journey that balances boldness with finesse. Encased in a dark, oily Mexican San Andrés wrapper, this 5 x 50 robusto reveals a meticulously crafted blend of Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and a dynamic filler mix of Nicaraguan Criollo ’98, an undisclosed Nicaraguan varietal, and Pennsylvania tobacco.
From the first light, it unfurls a complex profile of creamy tobacco, sweet wood, and earthy undertones, punctuated by hints of dark fruit and subtle spices. The construction is impeccable, with a solid ash and an even burn, reflecting the expertise of the Ventura family’s Dominican craftsmanship. This medium-to-full-bodied smoke evolves gracefully, offering a refined yet adventurous experience for seasoned enthusiasts.
As the Hit & Run Robusto progresses, its flavor tapestry deepens, weaving in notes of leather, coffee, and a touch of black pepper that lingers on the retrohale. The second third introduces a creamy anise nuance, harmonizing with the earthy core, while the final third brings a satisfying crescendo of roasted nuts and sea salt. With a draw that opens to perfection and a burn line that stays true, this cigar is as reliable as it is expressive.
The Hit & Run Robusto, reborn in its Redux form, embodies the rebellious spirit of Room101, making it a standout choice for those who crave a smoke that’s both thought-provoking and indulgent. Whether paired with a robust bourbon or savored solo, it’s a cigar that leaves a lasting impression.
