The Perdomo Fresco Sun Grown Torpedo is proof that an everyday cigar can still deliver serious Nicaraguan tobacco character. Fresco keeps the presentation simple and puts the emphasis where it belongs: a Nicaraguan Sun Grown wrapper over Cuban-seed Nicaraguan binder and filler. The result is richer and spicier than the Connecticut Fresco, with the earthy sweetness and strength that make sun-grown Nicaraguan tobacco such a dependable choice.
At 6½" x 54, the Torpedo adds a little finesse to this straightforward blend. The tapered head concentrates the smoke, bringing cedar, earth and pepper into sharper focus while roasted nuts, oak and a subtle natural sweetness develop underneath. There's enough Nicaraguan spice to keep things lively, but the cigar remains balanced and approachable rather than aggressive.
For smokers who enjoy Nicaraguan tobacco and appreciate the feel of a Torpedo, this may be the most interesting Fresco Sun Grown in the lineup. It's flavorful, well proportioned and priced to be smoked regularly rather than saved. Keep several in the humidor—this is honest Perdomo tobacco in a shape that makes the most of it.
