The Normandin‑Mercier Grande Champagne 30 Years Old XO Cognac offers an exceptionally refined and mature drinking experience. With three decades of patient oak maturation and the chalky finesse of the Grande Champagne cru, this spirit is elegant, layered and deeply satisfying.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Hailing from the prestigious Grande Champagne cru of the Cognac region in France, this cognac is composed from eaux-de-vie each aged at least 30 years. The family-owned Normandin-Mercier house has worked its estate—Domaine de La Péraudière—since the 19th century, sourcing primarily Ugni Blanc grapes with a rare admixture of Colombard and Folle Blanche. The cellars sit close to the Atlantic near La Rochelle, where the maritime climate gently moderates ageing conditions. The spirit is matured in red Limousin oak barrels (“red barrels”), without added colouring or cold filtration, preserving natural depth and character.
Tasting Profile
Nose: Aromas of dried apricot, orange peel, and honeyed almond are joined by hints of hazelnut, tobacco leaf and subtle “rancio” notes of old leather and cedar.
Palate: Velvety and deep, with rich confectionary tones of toffee and crème brûlée, followed by dark chocolate, smoked walnut, and dry spice—cinnamon and clove. A mineral chalk-edge underlies the fruit, revealing the Grande Champagne terroir.
Finish: Long and poised—lingering notes of brown sugar, cigar-box cedar, toasted oak and a whisper of salt-honey glaze mark the final impression, leaving the palate polished yet warm.
