The My Father La Gran Oferta Toro sits comfortably at the intersection of old-world cigar imagery and the García family's thoroughly modern command of Nicaraguan tobacco. Its ornate presentation takes inspiration from a cigar brand sold under the La Gran Oferta name around 1913, while the cigar itself is produced at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. Beneath its oily Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper are Cuban-seed Nicaraguan binder and Habano-Criollo fillers grown on García family farms—the kind of vertically integrated tobacco pedigree that has become central to the My Father identity.
The traditional 6" x 50 Toro may be the natural sweet spot of the blend. Its proportions give the Rosado wrapper a meaningful presence while providing enough length for the Nicaraguan tobaccos to develop gradually. The familiar García signature of cedar and black pepper appears early, followed by dark chocolate, roasted almond, earth and coffee, with a rich sweetness building underneath as the cigar settles. The wrapper's reddish Rosado character provides the counterpoint, adding aromatic spice and enough sweetness to keep the darker tobacco from becoming heavy.
La Gran Oferta demonstrates that the García family's talent isn't limited to making powerful cigars. The Toro has authority, certainly, but what keeps it interesting is balance—the interplay of spice, darker Nicaraguan tobacco and the sweeter character of the Rosado wrapper. At 6 x 50, there's enough time to watch those elements move in and out of focus, making this the vitola I'd recommend as the most complete introduction to the blend.
