Lundberg Short Grain Brown Rice is a regenerative-organic, short-plump brown rice grown in California that delivers a slightly nutty flavor and a naturally sticky texture for everyday cooking.
This 32-ounce bag of short-grain brown rice comes from Lundberg Family Farms, a multi-generation California producer committed to soil health and responsible farming practices. The grains keep their bran and germ, so they offer the whole-grain character of brown rice while forming a creamier, stickier finish than long-grain varieties—ideal for recipes where cling and richness matter. The product is Regenerative Organic Certified, non-GMO verified, vegan, and packaged in a resealable bag for pantry convenience.
How does this short-grain brown rice cook and behave in recipes?
Short-grain brown rice cooks to a tender, slightly sticky consistency that holds together better than long-grain brown rice. It’s well suited for dishes that benefit from a creamier texture and slight clumping, such as rice bowls, vegetarian sushi-style rolls, and baked rice casseroles.
- Tender yet slightly chewy grains after proper soaking or pilaf-style cooking.
- Natural stickiness helps form compact portions and layered dishes.
- Retains bran and germ for whole-grain mouthfeel and color.
What makes Regenerative Organic Certified rice different?
Regenerative Organic Certified builds on organic farming by emphasizing soil regeneration, animal welfare, and fair labor practices. Lundberg’s approach means practices intended to improve soil biology and biodiversity while maintaining organic standards.
- Soil-focused practices designed to increase resilience and carbon sequestration.
- Certification includes social and animal welfare criteria beyond USDA Organic.
- Farming practices intended to support local ecosystems and wildlife on the farm.
How should I store and prepare the 32 oz resealable bag for best results?
The resealable pouch helps keep the rice fresh in the pantry and reduces exposure to moisture and odors. For best texture, rinse briefly to remove loose dust, optionally soak for 20–30 minutes to shorten cook time, and use a 1.5–1.75:1 water-to-rice ratio for stovetop cooking, adjusting per your appliance or recipe.
- Store sealed in a cool, dry place; transfer to an airtight container for long-term storage.
- Rinse under cold water to clear surface starch, if desired for slightly less stickiness.
- Soak briefly to reduce cooking time and improve tenderness; follow package instructions for exact times.
Which meals and diets pair well with this Lundberg rice?
Because it’s whole-grain, vegan, non-GMO, and certified gluten-free, this rice fits a broad range of meal plans and dietary preferences. Its texture and flavor make it a versatile base for savory mains, grain bowls, veggie-forward meals, and comfort-style baked dishes.
- Works well in rice bowls, sticky rice salads, and oven-baked grain casseroles.
- Compliments plant-based proteins, stews, and saucy preparations that benefit from cling.
- Suitable for gluten-free and whole-grain focused meal planning.
