Long Shadows Pedestal Merlot 2020 hails from the Columbia Valley in Washington State, a region renowned for its ability to produce world-class Bordeaux varietals. The winery is part of the Long Shadows Vintners collection, a visionary project founded by Allen Shoup that brings together celebrated winemakers from around the globe to craft exceptional wines from Washington’s best vineyards. Pedestal is created by famed Pomerol winemaker Michel Rolland, whose blending expertise and attention to detail have made it one of the most sought-after Merlots from the Pacific Northwest.
Wine Description
This wine displays a deep, dark ruby hue. The nose opens with expressive aromas of black cherry, huckleberry, violet, and dark chocolate, intertwined with hints of oak spice and Turkish coffee. On the palate, it is lush and full-bodied, offering concentrated flavours of ripe plum, blackberry compote, mocha, and graphite, accented by subtle notes of grilled herbs and camphor. The tannins are fine-grained yet firm, providing structure that frames the wine’s plush fruit core, while a streak of fresh acidity ensures balance and elegance. The finish is long and satisfying, leaving lingering impressions of cocoa, wild berries, and spice.
