Kicking Horse Grizzly Claw is a bold, dark‑roasted 100% Arabica whole‑bean coffee with rich dark chocolate and roasted hazelnut notes, offered in a 10 oz organic, Fairtrade, kosher pack.
Roasted beneath the Canadian Rockies, Grizzly Claw is built for drinkers who want a full‑bodied cup with deep cocoa and brown‑sugar tones. These whole beans are certified organic and Fairtrade, roasted by Kicking Horse in small batches to preserve the smoky, velvety character typical of a dark roast. The result is a robust, aromatic coffee suited to French press, drip, pour‑over and cold brew methods.
What flavor profile can I expect from Grizzly Claw?
Grizzly Claw delivers concentrated chocolate impressions with supporting notes that round out each sip. Expect dense dark chocolate first, a touch of cacao nib bitterness, then brown sugar sweetness and a toasted hazelnut finish.
- Primary: rich, dark chocolate and cocoa powder aroma
- Secondary: cacao nibs and brown sugar nuances
- Finish: roasted hazelnut and earthy, velvety mouthfeel
- Roast level: dark — bold and full‑bodied
How is the coffee sourced and roasted?
These beans are 100% Arabica and sourced under organic and Fairtrade standards, supporting farmer livelihoods and environmental practices. Kicking Horse roasts the green beans in small, focused batches in the Rocky Mountains, with no additives or flavorings—just single‑ingredient coffee.
- Certifications: organic and Fairtrade plus kosher labeling
- Roast origin: roasted in Canada under controlled small‑batch conditions
- Ingredient integrity: only green coffee, no preservatives or fillers
- Bean type: Arabica, typically shade‑grown and higher elevation
Which brewing methods work best with these whole beans?
Grizzly Claw is versatile and performs well across common manual and automatic methods. The beans are recommended for medium‑fine grinds, but whole‑bean users can tailor the grind to their equipment for optimal extraction.
- French Press: coarse grind for a bold, full extraction
- Drip & Pour‑Over: medium to medium‑fine grind for clarity and balance
- Cold Brew: coarse grind with extended steeping for smoothness
- Espresso: darker roasts can be pulled in concentrated shots with adjusted grind and dose
How should I store and grind these whole beans?
To preserve aroma and flavor, keep beans in a cool, dark place in an airtight container and grind just before brewing. Whole‑bean storage reduces staling; if you open a 10 oz bag frequently, plan to use it within a few weeks for peak character.
- Storage: airtight container, away from heat and sunlight
- Grinding: grind on demand for best freshness
- Portioning: buy whole beans and dose as needed for single‑day brews
- Use window: best within 2–4 weeks of opening for optimal flavor
Who is this for: Grizzly Claw is aimed at coffee lovers who favor a powerful dark roast with clear chocolate and nutty accents, environmentally conscious buyers who want organic and Fairtrade certification, and home brewers who enjoy dialing grind size for French press, drip, pour‑over or cold brew. The 10 oz whole‑bean pack is a good fit for individuals or small households who prefer frequent grinding for fresh, bold cups.
