Tasting notes: Tangerine, Tarocco Orange, Caramel, Vanilla, Gooseberry, Grapefruit
Kaffeelix Kii AA comes from the Kii Factory, one of three mills operated by the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society in Kirinyaga County. Smallholder farmers on the fertile volcanic soils along Mount Kenya’s southern slopes contribute SL28 and SL34 cherries grown at 1,300–1,900 metres. The cooperative is recognized for clean organization and careful processing.
After hand sorting and floating, the cherries are pulped, fermented and washed, then soaked again in fresh water to intensify the clarity of the origin. The coffee dries for roughly two weeks on raised beds designed for steady, even drying. In the cup, Kaffeelix identifies tangerine, Tarocco orange, grapefruit and gooseberry, balanced by caramel and vanilla sweetness.
