Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Glentauchers 1979 43 Year Old is an exceptionally rare and high-strength single malt from the Speyside region, part of the prestigious Private Collection range personally selected by the Urquhart family. This specific expression was matured for 43 years in a single refill American oak hogshead and was bottled at a powerful cask strength of 57.7% ABV. It is celebrated for its vibrant citrus and tropical fruit profile, a remarkable characteristic for a whisky of such significant age.
On the nose, it delivers rich aromas of orange zest, green apple, and exotic fruits, accompanied by notes of Sicilian lemon, lime, and charred oak. The palate is smooth and bright, showcasing concentrated flavours of mango, pineapple, and guava intertwined with roasted nuts and a faint herbal edge. The finish is medium-bodied and elegant, leaving a lingering impression of syrupy pears and mature oak.
