Glasgow 1770 Red Wine & Ruby Port Cask Finish Single Cask is a sophisticated single-cask expression crafted by The Glasgow Distillery Company at their facility in Hillington, Glasgow. Showcasing the distillery's innovative approach to cask maturation, this release combines the influence of rich red wine casks and sweet Ruby Port wood. Bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration or artificial coloring, it offers a harmonious blend of Glasgow’s light, fruity single malt character with deep forest berries, dark chocolate, ripe plum, and gentle oak spice.
Food Pairing: Pairs exceptionally well with roasted duck breast with cherry reduction, venison tenderloin, dark chocolate ganache, aged Gouda, or blue cheese.
Tasting Notes: A rich and dark-fruit-forward Lowland single malt featuring notes of blackberry jam, dark cherry, poached plum, cocoa powder, and warming oak spice.
Nose: Fragrant aromas of dark cherries, blackberry compote, red wine tannins, vanilla bean, dried fig, and toasted oak.
Palate: Full-bodied and velvety on the palate with layers of dark chocolate, ripe plum, blackcurrant, honeyed malt, and subtle cinnamon spice.
Finish: Long and warming with lingering notes of dark berry syrup, red wine oak tannins, and gentle baking spices.
Serve: Enjoy neat in a Glencairn glass or with a few drops of water to open up its rich red wine and Port fruit layers.
