Nicholas Melillo’s Aksum series pays homage to tales of the Ark of the Covenant, the ancient Aksum Kingdom in present-day Ethiopia where the Ark is said to have been kept, and those said to carry on the legacy by watching over the Ark to this day. The Aksum Maduro Toro is a great way to explore the legends and taste the scrumptious blend they inspired.
The Aksum Maduro Toro features a Nicaraguan filler blend of Esteli and Jalapa leaves, tucked into a Connecticut Broadleaf binder and luxurious Ecuadorian Sumatra Maduro wrapper leaf. Each Aksum Maduro Toro is a 6” x 52 beauty assembled by hand at the Nicaraguan Tabacalera AJ Fernandez cigar factory.
The Aksum Maduro Toro is a bold yet perfectly balanced medium-to-full-bodied smoke. Leather, dark roast coffee, wood, pepper, and spice flavors emerge from the delectable tobacco blend with every puff. Sweet and creamy toffee nuances join with earthy and chocolaty notes to round out the satisfying hour-plus excursion.
The Aksum Maduro Toro is another modern classic worthy of the hype from Nicholas Melillo and his team at Foundation Cigar Company. Whether you are a fan of the Maduro or Nicaraguan blends or Melillo’s passion for the Connecticut leaf, the Aksum Maduro Toro is a grand choice.
