Ethical Bean Lush Medium Dark Roast is a 12 oz bag of fairtrade, USDA organic 100% Arabica whole beans roasted to a medium-dark profile with fruit, smoke and earthy notes.
Designed for people who value traceability, sustainable sourcing and a richer cup, this Ethical Bean offering pairs responsibly traded practices with a roast profile built to showcase bright fruit tones alongside smoky, grounded character. The beans arrive in a resealable 12-ounce pouch that preserves aroma and flavor while letting you scan a QR code to learn where the coffee originated.
What flavor should I expect from Lush Medium Dark Roast?
Expect a layered cup: bright fruit accents balanced against a gentle smoke and an earthy base. The medium-dark roast rounds natural acidity while maintaining aromatic complexity so the finish remains vivid without being overly bitter.
- Top notes: fruit-forward brightness
- Mid-palate: subtle smokiness
- Finish: earthy, persistent undertones
- Suitable for manual brew methods and espresso-based drinks
How does the packaging keep coffee fresh?
The coffee comes in a resealable bag with a pull-tab opening and zip lock to limit air exposure after opening. A tight seal helps retain oils and aromas so your beans stay fresher between uses.
- Pull-tab for easy first opening
- Zip lock reseal prevents oxidation
- 12 oz portion ideal for regular home use
- Opaque pouch blocks light that degrades flavor
Where do these beans come from and what do the certifications mean?
Ethical Bean sources premium Arabica beans seasonally from farming co-ops. The Fairtrade certification supports stable, fairer prices for producers and USDA Organic indicates cultivation without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.
- Seasonal sourcing from certified co-ops
- Fairtrade: helps ensure sustainable producer income
- USDA Organic: grown without synthetic chemicals
- Traceability via QR code links to producer information
How should I brew these whole beans for best results?
Grind immediately before brewing to capture volatile aromas. Use slightly finer grinds for espresso and medium-coarse for pour-over or drip; adjust dose and extraction to taste to highlight fruitiness or smoky notes.
- Grind fresh for peak aroma
- Espresso: fine grind to emphasize body
- Pour-over/drip: medium grind to showcase clarity
- Store sealed at room temperature away from light
Who is this for? Ethical Bean Lush Medium Dark Roast is aimed at home coffee drinkers who want ethically sourced, traceable beans with a bold yet balanced flavor. It's a good fit for people who prioritize organic and fairtrade certifications, enjoy experimenting with brew methods, and prefer whole beans they can grind fresh to capture nuanced fruit, smoke and earthy tones.
