Don Francisco's Moonlight Roast Whole Bean is an extra-dark, 100% Arabica coffee packaged in an 18 oz bag for a bold, smoky, full-bodied cup.
Moonlight Roast is crafted for coffee drinkers who favor intense flavor and aroma. Roasted to an extra-dark profile, these whole beans produce a deep, smoky character and heavy body that stands up well to milk, sugar, and bold brewing methods. The beans arrive whole so you can tailor grind size and extraction to your preferred method, from coarse French press to fine espresso.
How does Moonlight Roast taste and smell?
The roast profile emphasizes deep caramelization and pronounced smoky notes rather than bright acidity. Expect rich cocoa-like tones, roasted nuts, and an assertive finish that lingers on the palate. The aroma is bold and slightly charred, signaling the extra-dark roast level.
- Flavor notes: smoky, dark chocolate, roasted nuts
- Body: full and heavy, with lingering finish
- Acidity: low, mellowed by the dark roast
- Aroma: intense, smoky, and robust
Which brewing methods work best with whole beans?
Whole bean format gives you control over grind size and extraction, so Moonlight Roast adapts to multiple brewing styles. Use a coarse grind for French press to preserve the bold body, medium for drip machines, or fine for espresso to concentrate the roast's intensity. Adjust grind and dose to balance bitterness and strength.
- French press: coarse grind for pronounced body
- Drip/pourover: medium grind for clarity with bold flavor
- Espresso: fine grind for concentrated, robust shots
- Cold brew: coarse grind with long steep for mellowed intensity
What makes this coffee high quality and sustainable?
Moonlight Roast is made from 100% Arabica beans selected for consistency and flavor, then roasted to an extra-dark profile to produce its signature smoky character. These elements combine to deliver a premium product with environmental consideration.

How should I store and grind these beans for best results?
Store beans in a cool, dark place in the original resealable bag or an airtight container to preserve freshness. Grind immediately before brewing to capture the maximum aroma and flavor—adjust grind size to match your brewing method. Use a burr grinder for uniform particle size and more consistent extraction.
- Storage: reseal bag or use an airtight container, avoid heat/light
- Grinding: grind just before brewing for peak freshness
- Grinder: burr grinder recommended for even extraction
- Measurements: start with a 1:15–1:17 coffee-to-water ratio and tweak to taste
Who is this for? Moonlight Roast appeals to coffee lovers who prefer powerful, extra-dark profiles—people who enjoy bold morning cups, milk-forward espresso drinks, or a stout French press brew. If you seek a smoky, full-bodied coffee that holds up to milk and sweeteners, value whole-bean freshness, and appreciate a brand with a long family tradition, this 18 oz bag is designed for your daily ritual.
