Originating from France in the Burgundy region, specifically within the Monthelie appellation in the Cote de Beaune, Domaine Dujardin Monthelie Rouge represents a classic, terroir-driven village expression of Pinot Noir. Produced by Domaine Dujardin, a historic family-owned estate dedicated to traditional Burgundian viticulture, the winery focuses on sustainable farming, manual harvesting, and minimal intervention in the cellar. Sourced from village-level vineyard plots planted on steep limestone and clay slopes, the winemaking philosophy emphasizes gentle destemming, temperature-controlled fermentation with native yeasts, and aging in French oak barrels to preserve pristine red fruit character and authentic regional identity.
Wine Description
The wine presents a clear, bright ruby red colour with soft garnet highlights along the rim. An inviting and fresh bouquet opens with fragrant aromas of red cherry, wild raspberry, and red currant, interwoven with subtle notes of crushed stone minerality, dried herbs, and gentle oak spice. On the palate, it is light-to-medium bodied, elegant, and supple, delivering crisp flavours of red berries and sour cherry supported by a vibrant, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Finishing clean and dry, it leaves a pleasant, refreshing impression of forest berries and delicate spice. Composed of 100% Pinot Noir, it offers an approachable, graceful, and food-friendly village Burgundy profile.
