Community Coffee Decaf Coffee and Chicory is a medium‑dark roast ground blend of 100% Arabica beans and roasted chicory that delivers bold, smooth flavor without the caffeine.
Inspired by New Orleans tradition and refined by four generations of roasters, this 12‑ounce bag combines decaffeinated Arabica coffee with roasted chicory to add sweetness, depth and a slightly spice‑like finish. It’s prepared and ground for everyday machines and manual methods alike—ideal for drip coffee makers, pour‑overs, cold brews or a classic café au lait with steamed milk.
How does this blend differ from regular coffee in flavor?
The addition of roasted chicory gives the cup extra body and a toasty, almost caramelized nuance that complements the medium‑dark roast’s natural richness. Decaffeination softens the bite some drinkers associate with stronger roasts, resulting in a smoother sip overall.
- Chicory adds sweet, earthy and lightly bitter notes for complexity.
- Medium‑dark roast preserves bold flavor while avoiding excessive acidity.
- Decaf process removes caffeine but retains roast‑driven aromas.
Which brewing methods bring out the best in this ground coffee?
This coffee is ground for versatility and performs well in automatic drip machines, pour‑over cones and French presses. Cold brew also benefits from the blend’s sturdy body and chicory’s complementary flavors for a smooth iced cup.
- Drip coffee: consistent extraction and balanced flavor.
- Pour‑over: highlights aromatics and clarity of the blend.
- French press: maximizes body and mouthfeel.
- Cold brew: long steeping yields mellow, sweet notes.
Is this decaf still flavorful enough for espresso‑style drinks or café au lait?
Yes—though it’s not a traditional espresso roast, its full body and chicory make it a good candidate for milk‑based drinks like café au lait or latte alternatives. Using stronger brew ratios or a concentrated immersion extraction improves intensity for espresso‑style applications.
- Café au lait: pairs well with steamed milk for classic New Orleans flavor.
- Latte-style drinks: boost strength with tighter brew ratios.
- Concentrated cold brew: provides a rich base for milk or syrups.
