What is Excelso grade green coffee?
Excelso is Colombia's standard specialty export grade, milled between screens 14 and 16. It is slightly smaller than Colombia Supremo but equally valued for cup quality. Most Colombian specialty green coffee exported worldwide is Excelso grade. The grade refers to bean size only, not cup score. This lot scored SCA 82.5 independently of its Excelso classification.
What roast level works best for this green coffee?
This lot is genuinely versatile. Home roasters new to Colombian green coffee typically start at medium roast where the caramel sweetness and balanced acidity are most accessible. More experienced roasters who want to explore the origin character should try a light to medium-light profile where the citric brightness and fruity aromatics are most defined.
How should I store green coffee beans?
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light and moisture. Green coffee is stable for 12 to 18 months when stored properly. We ship all our green coffee in 9 layer hermetic Ecotact bags to preserve moisture content and the aromatic character of this lot between roasting sessions.
