The Caldwell Long Live the King Mad MoFo Habano Corona puts this muscular Caldwell blend into a format that lets you really taste the wrapper. A Dominican Habano wrapper surrounds an Indonesian Sumatra binder and a distinctive filler combination from Pennsylvania, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. It's a fuller, spicier side of Caldwell, but there's enough complexity in the tobacco to keep Mad MoFo Habano from becoming simply a powerhouse cigar.
At 5¾" x 43, the Corona may be the connoisseur's choice in the lineup. That slender ring gauge shifts the balance toward the Habano wrapper, bringing pepper, cedar and toasted tobacco into sharper focus, while the Pennsylvania leaf underneath contributes darker earth and additional weight. Coffee, leather and a touch of natural sweetness round things out as the cigar develops. The narrower format also encourages a slower cadence, allowing the blend's spice and strength to build rather than arrive all at once.
If you prefer traditional ring gauges and fuller cigars with some edge, this is the Mad MoFo Habano I'd put in your hand first. The Corona strips away the excess and puts the tobacco front and center—spicy, concentrated and distinctly Caldwell. Add a few to the humidor; this 43-ring Corona is made for the smoker who'd rather taste more wrapper than simply smoke a bigger cigar.
