Café Grumpy Momentum Blend is a medium-roast, 100% Arabica whole‑bean coffee that balances malted chocolate, caramel, and bright orange notes for versatile brewing across drip, French press, pour‑over, and cold brew methods.
Momentum is a small‑batch blend from Colombia and El Salvador roasted by Café Grumpy in Brooklyn. Packaged as whole beans so you can choose the grind you need, this 12‑ounce bag is crafted from farmer‑sourced, fairly traded beans and roasted with transparency and care. The profile skews approachable and dessert‑friendly without being cloying, and the medium roast level makes it a flexible pantry staple for everyday cups and special moments alike.
How should I grind Momentum for my brewing method?
Grind size changes extraction and taste; whole beans let you match the grind to your equipment for the cleanest flavors. Use coarser grinds for immersion methods and finer grinds for pressure-based or quick extraction devices.
- French press or cold brew: coarse grind for smooth body and reduced bitterness
- Drip machines and siphon: medium grind for balanced extraction and clarity
- Espresso and single-serve reusable pods: fine grind to achieve concentrated crema
- Ibrik/Turkish: extra-fine grind for a rich, syrupy cup
What does Momentum taste like and what pairs well with it?
Expect a dessert-lean flavor with malted milk chocolate and caramel at the core, brightened by an orange lift that keeps the cup lively. The blend's sweetness and medium body make it a natural companion to baked goods and creamy desserts.
- Tasting highlights: malted chocolate, caramel, and citrusy orange notes
- Food pairings: pumpkin pie, butter cookies, almond biscotti, or dark chocolate
- Milk and sweetener: a splash of milk or half‑and‑half enhances creaminess; sugar brings out candy‑like notes
- Brew temperature tip: 195–205°F (90–96°C) brings out balanced acidity and sweetness

Will this coffee give me a strong caffeine kick?

- Roast level: medium for balanced caffeine and flavor
- Caffeine: standard caffeinated blend; decaf alternatives available from the brand
