Bruichladdich Octomore 8.1 Masterclass 8 Year Old is a super-heavily peated Islay single malt Scotch whisky distilled from 100% Scottish barley and matured for eight years entirely in first-fill American oak casks. Peated to 167 PPM and bottled at a powerful 59.3% ABV, this Masterclass release combines Octomore's intense peat character with the sweetness and structure of American oak. The maturation incorporated casks sourced from Buffalo Trace, Clermont Springs, Four Roses, Heaven Hill and Jack Daniel's.
Food Pairing: Pair with smoked brisket, charred lamb, grilled steak, smoked salmon, aged cheddar or dark chocolate.
Tasting Notes: Powerful yet balanced, combining dense peat smoke with vanilla sweetness, citrus, maritime character, toasted oak and warming spice.
Nose: Sweet vanilla and honey open into peat smoke, fresh citrus and maritime notes, with touches of milk chocolate and gentle oak.
Palate: Full-bodied and intense, with smoky peat, vanilla sweetness, pepper, charred oak, coastal salinity and hints of coffee.
Finish: Long, warming and persistent, with lingering peat smoke, oak, gentle sweetness and maritime character.
