Bird Dog Cinnamon Whiskey, also sold as Bird Dog Hot Cinnamon, is made for people who like some heat. Bird Dog is a Kentucky brand that has focused on flavored whiskey since 2010. This one is bottled at 80 proof.
Pour a glass and sweet cinnamon jumps out first, with a wave of warm spice. Your first sip brings a fast, zesty burst of cinnamon. It tingles on your tongue and warms you all the way down. Then the heat calms into sweet vanilla and caramel. The finish stays warm. Cinnamon spice slowly fades into mellow caramel and a gentle sweetness.
It has fans in the press, too. Tasting Table put 13 cinnamon whiskeys through a blind taste test, and Bird Dog came out on top.
You can sip it neat or chill it for an easy shot. Over ice, it is smooth and simple. It also mixes well. Top it with apple cider or ginger ale for a quick highball. A cinnamon Old Fashioned is another fun way to use it.
This bottle loves sweet, spiced food. Try it with apple pie or a square of dark chocolate. It even stands up to smoky BBQ ribs. If you enjoy a warm, spicy kick at a friendly price, keep one on hand for game days and cold nights.
