Introduction
Bepi Tosolini Grappa Distillery Edition - Barrique Ex-Whisky is a premium artisanal spirit from Italy, specifically produced in the northeastern region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The distillery was founded in 1943 by Giuseppe 'Bepi' Tosolini, a native of Friuli who dedicated his life to transforming grappa into a refined and sophisticated distillate. Today, the company remains family owned and is managed by the founder's grandchildren, Giuseppe, Bruno, and Lisa, who continue the 'Tosolini method' of artisanal distillation in traditional steam pot stills.
Spirit Description
This grappa is distilled from the fresh pomace of various noble Friulian grape varieties, using a manual distillation process that selects only the purest part of the distillate, known as the 'heart'. It is then seasoned in the Tosolini cellars within European oak barriques that previously contained first quality original whisky.
Colour: The liquid presents a rich orange hue.
Aroma: The nose is complex and enveloping, featuring notes of marmalade, orange, and toasted oak.
Palate: It offers a very rich and spicy character with enveloping notes of jam, citrus, and toasted oak.
Body: This grappa is characterized by a strong and full bodied profile that is clean on the palate.
Finish: It concludes with a smooth, clean, and persistent finish.
ABV: This expression is bottled at 40%.
Food Pairing
The warm, spicy, and fruit forward profile of this whisky finished grappa makes it an ideal companion for post dinner relaxation.
Savoury: It serves as an excellent digestif and can be enjoyed as a 'caffe corretto', either served alongside or added to an espresso.
Sweet: It pairs elegantly with rich desserts, particularly those featuring dark chocolate, nuts, or candied orange peel.
Serving: For the best sensory experience, it is recommended to serve this grappa at a temperature between 18°C and 20°C in a balloon glass to allow the whisky influenced aromas to develop.
