A quiet standout from California’s inland vineyards, the 2023 Open Secret Red Blend brings together Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel in a richly layered expression of fruit, spice, and oak. Aromas of blackberry, plum, and cherry compote rise from the glass, accented by warm notes of nutmeg, allspice, and toasted coconut. The palate is plush and medium-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and a smooth, lingering finish. A subtle touch of sweetness enhances the wine’s fruit-forward nature, making it both approachable and expressive. While California may be best known for its bold single varietals, this unexpected blend offers a different kind of discovery—one worth savoring and sharing.
