Banhez Tepeztate Mezcal Joven is an Oaxacan mezcal made from 100% Tepeztate agave, identified by Banhez as Agave marmorata. The producer names Apolonio Patricio Lopez as the maestro and San Agustín Amatengo as its origin. It is bottled at 47% ABV (94 proof).
Banhez describes the aroma and palate through fresh herbs, green apple, and green pepper, with citrus zest, smoke, and terroir-driven earthiness adding depth. The production details specify natural yeast fermentation for five to six days and copper distillation, keeping the presentation centered on the mature Tepeztate agave’s vegetal profile.
Serve it neat to explore the progression from green fruit and herbs into earth and smoke, or add a measured pour to a mezcal cocktail where citrus and pepper accents can remain clear. This listing is for a single 750ml bottle. The balanced combination of bright fruit, vegetal freshness, citrus, and smoke gives this Joven a distinctive place in the Banhez single-agave range.
