The A.J. Fernandez Last Call Habano Flaquitas takes a line originally conceived as a short end-of-the-evening smoke and stretches it into one of its most traditional formats. Last Call began as a cigar Fernandez kept for guests at his home in Nicaragua, often bringing them out toward the end of late-night football games. The 6" x 46 Flaquitas joined the original Geniales in 2016, offering considerably more smoking time while preserving the straightforward character that made Last Call popular.
An Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper surrounds Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. At 46 ring, the Flaquitas maintains a relatively high proportion of wrapper to filler, giving the Habano Rosado plenty of influence without overwhelming the Nicaraguan core. Expect a tobacco-forward profile built around cedar, toasted tobacco and restrained pepper, with a subtle natural sweetness appearing as the cigar settles in. The longer format allows those elements to develop gradually rather than delivering the concentrated punch of the shorter Last Call sizes.
For smokers who still appreciate traditional ring gauges, the Flaquitas is an especially appealing way to experience Last Call. Six inches provides enough time to watch the blend develop, while the 46 ring keeps the smoke focused and aromatic. Put a few in the humidor for those occasions when there's time to linger over Last Call rather than rush it.
