The 2024 release of Widow Jane Black Opal represents a rare discovery of Widow Jane’s oldest and most refined bourbon. Aged for two decades and meticulously finished in exclusive Mizunara oak casks, Black Opal is crafted for the discerning whiskey collector. This 20-year bourbon blend benefits from a finishing period in Mizunara oak, known for its porous structure and unique, subtle tannins. Sourced from ancient Japanese oak trees, these Mizunara barrels impart the bourbon with an intense and exotic profile.
The aroma greets you with deep, layered notes of molasses, smoky frankincense, and subtle tobacco, weaving into hints of Tahitian vanilla, dried apricot, and rose hip. The taste profile unfolds with black strap molasses, walnut, poached plum, and a luxurious burnt sage undertone, finishing with brown butter smoothness. Widow Jane’s signature limestone-filtered water from Rosendale Mines of New York enriches the mouthfeel, adding depth and a lingering finish.
Widow Jane Black Opal 20 Year is a limited-edition bourbon that combines rare age and finishing expertise for a truly unforgettable experience.
