In the middle of California wine country, two mountain ranges that run the spine of the state come together to create unique vineyard conditions. The soils are perfect for getting robust grapes, and winemakers labor over the land to produce excellent wines that are full of the best flavors.
The Whipstitch 2016 Zinfandel-Petite Sirah brings together two incredible types to make a perfect blend. The Zinfandel grape brings tastes of blackberry and pepper, while the Petite Sirah mellows the spice with bigger flavors of dark fruit. Together they make a wine that is both elevated and accessible, and perfect for entertaining any wine-drinking company.
REGION There aren’t many wine regions in the world more diverse than California. The warm days and cool nights are perfect for producing concentrated and expressive grapes over the long growing season. With vineyards on the sea swept Central Coast; the mountainous, jagged terrain of Northern California; and the storied plots of Napa, winemakers can be exacting in choosing the specific climate and soil types they are looking for when making their wines. With nutrient rich soils and scores of different microclimates, California is a gift to ambitious winemakers.
TASTING NOTES The Zinfandel grape brings tastes of blackberry and pepper, while the Petite Sirah mellows the spice with bigger flavors of dark fruit. Plump and juicy the fruits in this wine taste very ripe and are perfect for accenting foods that are cooked in oil.
