Watt Whisky Dalrymple 11 Year Old is an independently bottled Lowland Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, distilled in 2012 and bottled by Watt Whisky in 2024 after 11 years of maturation in a hogshead. Bottled at 57.1% ABV, the release was limited to 294 bottles. Although “Dalrymple” is the name used on the release, specialist sources indicate that the principal whisky is from Ailsa Bay Distillery, with the blended-malt designation resulting from the whisky being “teaspooned.” Watt Whisky’s official listing describes a rich, sweet profile of orchard fruit, marzipan, honeycomb, nuts, peach and crème brûlée.
Food Pairing: Pair with roast pork, glazed chicken, aged Gouda, almond pastries, apple tart, crème brûlée, peach desserts, or roasted nuts.
Tasting Notes: Rich and approachable for its strength, combining sweet orchard fruit with marzipan, honeyed confectionery, roasted nuts, peach and creamy caramelized sweetness.
Nose: Sweet toffee apple and marzipan lead the aroma, with ripe orchard fruit and almond-like sweetness developing underneath.
Palate: Rich honeycomb sweetness is joined by roasted peanut and creamy fruit, with the high bottling strength giving the whisky considerable weight.
Finish: Peach and crème brûlée bring a fruity, creamy conclusion with lingering caramelized sweetness.
Serve: Enjoy neat in a tulip-shaped whisky glass. At 57.1% ABV, allow it to rest before tasting and add a few drops of water if desired to open the fruit, nut and honeyed characteristics.
