Made by Aoyoshi's Vintage Inox line.
Vintage Inox uses a patented finishing technology to "distress" stainless steel. This finish is unlike any other finish we have ever seen. Truly vintage and classic. Food safe, and non corrosive.
"A feeling of age" to the stainless steel tableware.
The Vintage Inox line is a truly special line from Aoyoshi. Due to the handmade nature of the finish, no two products are the same. The distressed finish creates the impression that these items (artifacts) have been a part of your life forever.
Before precision thermocouples and PID controllers, there was this.
The Vintage Inox Hand Roaster is a fully manual, stainless steel drum roaster designed for direct heat use—gas flame, camp stove, even open fire. No electronics. No automation. Just heat, agitation, and attention.
Constructed from heavy-gauge inox (stainless steel), the cylindrical drum promotes even conductive and convective heat transfer. The internal chamber is sized for small-batch roasting—ideal for 50–150g of green coffee—allowing you to closely manage roast progression through sound (first crack), aroma, and color development.
The long handle keeps your hand clear of the heat source while providing continuous rotational control. Consistent turning is critical: it prevents scorching, promotes uniform bean expansion, and ensures balanced development across the batch.
Why this roaster stands out:
-
Durable stainless steel construction
-
Manual crank operation for full roast control
-
Compact footprint—easy to store, easy to travel with
-
Perfect for small experimental batches
-
No dependency on power
This is not convenience roasting. It’s tactile, sensory, and deliberate. You’ll learn to read the beans—listening for first crack, watching surface oils emerge, managing heat application manually.
For those who want to understand coffee from the inside out, the Vintage Inox Hand Roaster is less a tool and more a ritual.
