This exceptional vintage Cartier Must de Cartier Oval lighter, crafted in the early 1970s, is an extremely rare collector’s example executed in factory-made solid 925 sterling silver and finished with a deep natural black lacquer. Combining precious metal construction with Cartier’s timeless oval design, this model represents one of the Maison’s earliest and most desirable lighter creations.
Expertly manufactured in Switzerland, the lighter bears 925 sterling silver hallmarks on both the body and the underside, confirming its solid sterling silver construction and authenticity. The elegant natural black lacquer provides a refined contrast against the polished silver, showcasing Cartier’s renowned attention to detail and exceptional craftsmanship.
Produced in limited numbers due to the complexity and cost of combining solid sterling silver with natural lacquer, this configuration is seldom encountered on today’s collector market. The classic Must de Cartier oval form remains one of the brand’s most iconic lighter designs, appreciated for its elegant proportions, smooth mechanical operation, and enduring sophistication.
Preserved in good collector condition, this rare example remains fully functional and represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire one of Cartier’s most sought-after early sterling silver models.
