BENDT Distilling Co. in Lewisville, Texas is doing something genuinely rare: making a true grain-to-glass, bottled in bond rye whiskey from local north Texas grain — slow-aged in the brutal Texas heat for over five and a half years. The result is Unbendt, a rye that is unblended, uncompromising, and unmistakably Texan.
The grain bill is as distinctive as the distillery: Elbon Rye, Triticale Hybrid Grain, Marris Otter Malted Barley, and Naked Streaker Oats — a combination that delivers complexity and character well beyond a standard rye mash bill. Aged 5+ years in 53-gallon standard bourbon barrels at a 3.5 char level, then bottled in bond at 100 proof. Peppery, warm, and built for the serious rye drinker.
