Torabhaig “Taigh” Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a young but highly expressive Isle of Skye malt that captures the distillery’s signature style: coastal peat, gentle smoke, and layered sweetness. It leans toward a more refined, “well-tempered” peat profile—less aggressive than Islay, but still distinctly maritime—offering notes of vanilla custard, orchard fruit, and soft bonfire smoke. This is a modern island whisky with clarity and balance, built for both enthusiasts and curious drinkers exploring peated Scotch.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Produced by Torabhaig Distillery on the Isle of Skye, this whisky represents part of the distillery’s ongoing evolution toward a future flagship aged expression.
Key production highlights:
- Distilled at a new-generation Skye distillery (operational since 2017)
- One of only two distilleries on the Isle of Skye
- Crafted in a peated style with maritime influence
- Matured primarily in American oak (often ex-bourbon casks)
- Bottled typically around 46% ABV, non-chill filtered, natural color
Torabhaig’s house style is often described as:
👉 “Elegantly rugged” peat—smoky but balanced with citrus, sweetness, and coastal salinity
This approach distinguishes it from heavier peat styles, emphasizing integration over intensity.
