TOR Palisades Vineyard Petit Sirah 2016 is an extraordinarily powerful, inky, and deeply concentrated California red that captures the legendary heritage of Calistoga's old-vine viticulture. Pouring an opaque, near-black purple, this monumental wine unfolds with a brooding and majestic bouquet of blackberry compote, warm boysenberries, and crushed violets, seamless layered with savory undertones of freshly turned earth, licorice, black pepper, and scorched graphite. On the palate, it is full-bodied, massive, and beautifully structured, delivering an intense, palate-staining core of dark fruits. Rather than being aggressively chewy, its old-vine tannins are remarkably refined, silky, and compact, perfectly balanced by a striking natural freshness that guides it toward a persistent, echoing finish.
Food Pairing: Pairs magnificently with slow-braised beef short ribs, grilled venison loin with juniper berries, smoked wild boar sausages, or strong, earthy blue cheeses.
94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2016 Petite Sirah Old Vines Palisades Vineyard is inky purple-black in color with a nose of cassis, redcurrants and asphalt with nuances of pepper and earth. The medium to full-bodied palate is very firm, grainy and lively, finishing long and earthy.
