Flat Cap is a staple core offering from Calgary’s Tool Shed Brewing Company. This beer is a tribute to the "working man’s" stout, designed to be hearty and flavorful while remaining approachable enough for a full session. True to Tool Shed’s roots of starting in a literal backyard shed, Flat Cap embodies a no-nonsense, high-quality approach to traditional dark ales, offering a rich experience without the overwhelming heaviness or high alcohol content often associated with the style.
Beer Description
This traditional Stout pours a deep, opaque obsidian black with a thick, tan, creamy head that leaves beautiful lacing on the glass.
Aroma: It features a robust nose dominated by dark roasted malts, offering distinct notes of espresso, bittersweet chocolate, and a hint of toasted oats.
Palate: The flavor profile is rich and layered, mirroring the aroma with deep coffee and cocoa notes. It provides a smooth, medium-bodied mouthfeel with a subtle creamy texture, finishing with a pleasant, dry roasted bitterness that balances the initial malt sweetness.
Profile: It has an ABV of 5.5% and a moderate bitterness of 32 IBU, making it flavorful and complex yet remarkably easy to drink.
