Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between Toddy paper filters and reusable filters?
Paper filter bags offer superior filtration compared to reusable cloth or metal filters. They remove more sediment and oils, resulting in cleaner-tasting cold brew. While reusable filters are more eco-friendly, paper filters deliver the smoothest possible cold brew experience.
How many times can I use one Toddy OS paper filter bag?
These are single-use filters designed for one batch of cold brew. After brewing, simply discard the used filter bag along with the spent coffee grounds.
Are these filters compatible with all Toddy brewers?
Toddy OS Paper Filter Bags are specifically designed for the Toddy Original System (OS). For the Toddy Commercial Model, you'll need the larger commercial-sized filters. Always check your brewer model to ensure proper fit.
How much cold brew concentrate does one filter bag make?
When used with the Toddy Original System and following standard brewing ratios (1 lb coffee to 9 cups water), one filter bag produces approximately 7 cups of cold brew concentrate, which makes 21-28 servings of ready-to-drink cold brew when diluted.
Can I use these filters with other cold brew makers?
While designed specifically for Toddy systems, some users successfully adapt these filters for other immersion cold brew makers of similar size. However, for optimal performance and proper fit, we recommend using them with genuine Toddy brewing systems.
How should I store unused filter bags?
Keep unused filter bags in a cool, dry place away from moisture and strong odors. The original packaging works well for storage. Proper storage ensures the filters maintain their integrity until you're ready to brew.
Are Toddy filter bags environmentally friendly?
These paper filters are biodegradable and compostable along with your used coffee grounds. While they are single-use, they break down naturally, making them a more sustainable choice than plastic filters.
