Tim Hortons Whole Bean Original is a medium-roast, 100% Arabica coffee sold in a 32-ounce bag for brewing fresh, café-style coffee at home.
Born from a legacy that began in 1964, this Tim Hortons Original blend combines Arabica beans sourced from multiple coffee-growing regions to recreate the chain’s familiar flavor in whole-bean form. Packaged to preserve aroma and freshness, the 32-ounce bag is intended for home brewers who prefer grinding beans just before brewing to maximize flavor. The profile is smooth and balanced, designed to deliver a reliable everyday cup whether you use a drip machine, pour-over, or French press.
What tasting profile can I expect from this medium roast?
This Original blend leans toward a balanced medium roast — not too bright, not overly bitter — aimed at being broadly appealing across brewing methods. You’ll notice a steady, mild body with subtle nutty and cocoa notes rather than pronounced acidity or overly fruity tones.
- Smooth, medium-bodied cup suitable for daily drinking
- Subtle nut and cocoa undertones for easy sipping
- Moderate roast development preserves aromatic oils without excessive char
- Works well black or with milk and sweeteners
How should I store and grind these whole beans for best results?
Keep the sealed 32-ounce bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to protect aroma and flavor. Grind immediately before brewing—coarser for French press, medium for drip machines, and fine for espresso—to retain volatile oils that create the coffee’s character.
- Store unopened bag in a pantry; avoid the fridge or freezer for daily use
- Grind on demand to preserve freshness and aroma
- Adjust grind size to match your brewer for consistent extraction
- Use within weeks of opening for best flavor; reseal bag tightly
Which brewing methods work best with Tim Hortons Whole Bean Original?
The blend is formulated to be versatile across common home brewing methods. It performs reliably in automatic drip makers, pour-over cones, French presses, and manual brewers, producing consistent cups with a familiar Tim Hortons flavor.
- Automatic drip machines: steady extraction and convenience
- Pour-over: clarity and control of brewing variables
- French press: fuller body and richer mouthfeel
- Suitable for single-serve or larger pots when ground appropriately
How large is the bag and how many cups will it yield?
The package contains 32 ounces (about 907 grams) of whole-bean coffee—ample for multiple weeks depending on consumption. With a common brewing ratio (10–12 g per 180–240 ml cup), expect roughly 75–90 standard cups from the full bag.
- 32-ounce bag holds approximately 907 grams of coffee
- Typical yield: about 75–90 eight-ounce cups, depending on strength
- Good value for households or small offices that brew daily
- Whole beans extend peak flavor when ground shortly before brewing
Who is this for? Tim Hortons Whole Bean Original suits anyone who wants to recreate the chain’s signature medium-roast profile at home—commuters brewing before work, families who drink coffee throughout the day, and coffee lovers who prefer grinding beans themselves for fresher cups. It’s also a practical choice for those looking for a straightforward, crowd-pleasing medium roast in a larger 32-ounce format that balances convenience, consistent flavor, and value.
