Privada Storytelling
In the deepest reaches of the Amazon rainforest stands Tabacalera del Oriente, a factory and farm that is nearly mythical in its exclusivity. Owned by Gennaro Lettieri, this operation exists to supply a single client. Every leaf grown under Lettieri’s watchful eye is destined for one destination—and one destination only. Yet, in a rare twist of fate, he kept a small portion of his extraordinary tobacco for himself. That sacred stash, never sold and never shared, became the heart of The Volute.
To bring it to life, Lettieri entrusted Claudio Sgroi, one of the industry’s most respected artisans, to craft a cigar worthy of the leaf’s origin. The result is a limited run that whispers of the Amazon itself: humid earth, wild botanicals, and a richness that feels untouched by modern commerce. It is as though the rainforest has been pressed into a cigar, rolled carefully in secret, and released only to those fortunate enough to encounter it through Privada and the Limited Cigar Association.
Flavor Journey
-
First Third: Earth-driven and bold, with notes of rainforest soil, dark wood, and exotic spices. A natural sweetness lingers at the edges, softening the intensity.
-
Second Third: A medley of florals and aromatics arises, evoking the lush vegetation of the Amazon. Hints of nutmeg, cacao husk, and roasted nuts appear, balanced by creamy smoke.
-
Final Third: The cigar deepens into resinous wood, black tea, and faint citrus peel. The sweetness lingers, joined by a mineral-rich complexity that marks the Volute as unlike anything else in the humidor.
Why It Belongs in Privada
The Volute is an invitation into the Amazon, one of the most inaccessible and mysterious sources of tobacco in the world. To hold this cigar is to hold history, rarity, and privilege. Gennaro Lettieri does not sell his tobacco, yet here it is—offered in partnership with Claudio Sgroi and the LCA. This is the type of release that defines Privada: a blend that can’t be duplicated, can’t be negotiated, and can’t be found anywhere else. It belongs here because it proves that even in a world of endless cigars, there are still secrets worth chasing.
