The First Editions Jura 13 Year Old is a limited single-cask Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky distilled at Jura Distillery in 2011 and bottled in 2025 by Hunter Laing’s The First Editions range. Matured for 13 years in a single Sherry hogshead, Cask #HL21866, it was bottled at its natural 53.5% ABV cask strength, with an outturn of only 274 bottles. The Sherry maturation complements Jura’s coastal character with salted caramel, citrus, herbs and sweet spice, alongside gentle smoke and maritime notes.
Food Pairing: Smoked salmon, roast pork, mature cheddar, citrus-glazed chicken, orange-dark chocolate or salted caramel desserts.
Tasting Notes: Coastal and gently smoky with citrus, salted caramel and Sherry sweetness developing into dried herbs, warming spices and marmalade.
Nose: Sea spray and salted caramel with a touch of bonfire smoke.
Palate: Grapefruit and lemon zest accompanied by dried herbs and sweet spices.
Finish: Long and warming with black pepper, cinnamon and lingering marmalade.
Serve: Enjoy neat and allow it time to open in the glass. A few drops of water can reveal additional citrus, caramel and spice at its 53.5% cask strength.
