Ritual Zero Proof Whiskey Alternative is a non-alcoholic whiskey substitute made by Ritual Beverage Company, founded in 2019 in Chicago, Illinois, by David Crooch, Marcus Sakey, and GG Sakey. It is made from filtered water, cane sugar, natural flavors, xanthan gum, citric acid, caramel color, and sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate as preservatives. The whiskey alternative is produced through a water-based maceration process followed by vacuum distillation to extract flavor from botanicals, so no ethanol is produced during manufacturing. It is designed to replace traditional whiskey one-to-one in cocktails such as an Old Fashioned, Manhattan, or Whiskey Sour.
