Tasting notes: Blackcurrant, Cardamom and Date
Grown in the highlands of Huehuetenango at the world-renowned Finca El Injerto, this washed SL-28 is a remarkable expression of the Aguirre family’s dedication to quality. Cultivated between 1,500 and 1,920 metres above sea level, the coffee benefits from mineral-rich soils and a cool microclimate that encourages slow, even cherry maturation, resulting in exceptional complexity and clarity.
The cup opens with a juicy, vibrant acidity characteristic of the SL-28 variety, beautifully balanced by a generous sweetness that adds depth and harmony. Notes of blackcurrant take centre stage, complemented by a delicate touch of cardamom and a rich date-like sweetness that lingers on the finish. Elegant, expressive, and impeccably clean, this coffee showcases the purity and consistency that have made Finca El Injerto one of the most celebrated coffee estates in the world.
