Harvested and produced in Louisiana using time-honored methods, this 12 fl oz can of STEEN'S pure cane syrup offers an unadulterated sweetener made without extracts, additives, or corn syrup. The mill presses fully ripened cane and reduces the juice in open kettles until the syrup reaches a clear, balanced consistency. The result is a syrup with a warm, caramelized sweetness and a heritage profile that pairs well with baking, pancakes, glazes, and classic Southern desserts.
How is STEEN'S cane syrup made?
Steen's follows a traditional, minimally processed approach: ripe cane stalks are harvested, ground to release their juice, and then cooked in open kettles until the liquid concentrates to the desired clarity and thickness. This artisanal method preserves natural cane flavor without chemical extraction or blending.
- Locally harvested, fully ripened sugar cane for peak sweetness
- Mechanical grinding to extract juice—no chemical processing
- Open-kettle reduction to develop color, clarity, and flavor
- Packaged as 100% pure syrup—no additives, no corn syrup
What does this syrup taste like and how can I use it?
STEEN'S pure cane syrup has a warm, mildly caramelized sweetness with vegetal cane notes and a clean finish—less cloying than some inverted or corn-based syrups. It's versatile in the kitchen and elevates both sweet and savory dishes without overpowering them.
- Pour over pancakes, waffles, or French toast for authentic Southern flavor
- Use as a sugar substitute in baking—especially pies, glazes, and cookies
- Stir into marinades and glazes for roasted meats or vegetables
- Blend into coffee, cocktails, or sauces for a natural cane sweetness
How should I store and measure the syrup for recipes?
Store the unopened 12 fl oz can in a cool, dry pantry away from direct sunlight. After opening, refrigerate to maintain freshness and slow natural crystallization; warm gently to loosen if it thickens.
- Keep sealed in original container or transfer to a glass jar with lid
- Refrigerate after opening; stir or warm to restore pourable texture
- Substitute 1:1 for other liquid sweeteners in most recipes, adjusting for sweetness preference
- Use a tablespoon measure for precise baking ratios and glazes
Why choose STEEN'S over other sweeteners?
STEEN'S emphasizes a heritage production process and a single-ingredient label: cane juice reduced to syrup. If you want a less processed, corn-free alternative with a distinct Southern profile, this syrup delivers both flavor and provenance.
- Single-ingredient purity—100% cane syrup with no additives
- Traditional open-kettle production for authentic flavor depth
- Small-batch, regionally produced in Louisiana for provenance
- Multipurpose use across baking, breakfast, and cooking applications
Who is this for: STEEN'S 100% Pure Cane Syrup is suited to home cooks, bakers, and food lovers who prefer minimally processed ingredients and crave authentic Southern flavor. It's a practical pantry upgrade for anyone replacing corn syrups, enhancing holiday baking (pecan pie, biscuits, and glazes), or experimenting with natural sweeteners in everyday recipes.
