Privada Storytelling
Tony Barrios is not your typical cigar maker. An Argentinian cowboy with an Ivy League education, he straddles two worlds with ease: the raw, earthy life of a horseman and the refined sophistication of a global businessman. With Stallone Cigars, he brings that duality to the leaf, creating blends that are bold yet nuanced, rustic yet elegant.
The Zaino Broadleaf Aged 3+ Years was born from hard-fought negotiations between Tony and Privada. At first, the deal seemed doomed—Tony wasn’t sure what Privada was about, and I wasn’t sure he understood our mission. But after stepping back, we came together, and this Broadleaf treasure finally made its way to the club. It’s paired with its sibling, the Castaño San Andres, but Zaino stands tall as a powerhouse on its own. A cigar for the bold smoker, it’s unapologetic in its strength yet balanced with a sophistication that reflects Tony himself.
Flavor Journey
-
First Third: Sweetened chocolate and raisins collide with leather, earth, and sharp red pepper. Cedar dominates the mouthfeel, transitioning into oak on the finish. Yeast, bread, wood, chocolate, and floral pepper dance across the palate.
-
Second Third: The smoke mellows, dark and sweet like chocolate-covered cherries. Leather, wood, and black pepper persist, joined by dried peach, sugar, and cocoa. Bread and salt add depth, while the creamy texture builds.
-
Final Third: A perfectly rounded finale—smooth, sweet, and balanced. Cocoa, berries, and bread mingle with oak and white pepper, leaving a fragrant, lingering finish that proves this cigar is a full-bodied masterpiece.
Why It Belongs in Privada
The Zaino Broadleaf is a cigar that almost never was. Born from tension, revived through persistence, it now stands as one of Privada’s most flavorful and complex releases. Its marriage of power and finesse mirrors the Privada ethos: pushing the industry forward while honoring the artistry behind each leaf. This is the kind of cigar that defines the Privada journey.
