Soter Estates Pinot Noir 2022 is a premium red wine from the United States, produced in the celebrated Willamette Valley of Oregon. This bottling represents a sophisticated blend of fruit from the winery's three distinct estate vineyards located in the Ribbon Ridge, Eola-Amity Hills, and Yamhill-Carlton subregions. Founded over 20 years ago by legendary winemaker Tony Soter and his wife Michelle, the winery is renowned for its commitment to environmental stewardship and meticulous organic and biodynamic farming.
Wine Description
This ruby red wine offers a complex sensory profile that begins with enticing aromas of red plum, wild cherries, and rose petals, accented by notes of cinnamon, cedar, and tobacco. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and textured, delivering a rich core of boysenberry, black plum, and raspberry flavors alongside secondary hints of savory tea, dried herbs, and minerals. The wine is characterized by its fresh acidity and finely chalky, 'dusty' tannins that provide a firm structure and a long, refined finish. Composed of 100% Pinot Noir, the 2022 vintage was fermented using 25% to 30% whole clusters and native yeasts, followed by 10 months of aging in French oak barrels, 30% of which were new. This estate wine is certified organic and biodynamic, with a production of approximately 3,473 cases and an alcohol content of 13.8%.
Food Pairing
The savory complexity and vibrant acidity of this Pinot Noir make it an ideal partner for roasted duck or herb-crusted chicken. It pairs exceptionally well with earthy dishes such as wild mushroom risotto, pasta with a duck ragu, or grilled salmon. Additionally, its structure complements charcuterie boards, pork tenderloin, and roasted root vegetables like beets.
