Produced in the Monção and Melgaço subregion of Portugal's Vinho Verde, Soalheiro was a pioneer as the first brand to produce 100% Alvarinho in Melgaço in 1982. The winery is family-owned and focuses on a philosophy of innovation and sustainability, utilizing organic viticulture to express the unique granite terroir of the Minho River Valley.
Wine Description
This sparkling wine displays a deep gold colour with fine, elegant bubbles. The nose is highly complex, offering intense bready and yeasty aromas alongside distinct mineral notes and hints of tree fruits like green apple and peach. On the palate, it is bone-dry and intense, featuring a voluminous mouthfeel and mouth-watering acidity that results from a complete malolactic fermentation.
Food Pairing
The intense flavour and palate-cleansing acidity of this sparkling wine make it an excellent companion for powerful gastronomy such as red meat, Brazilian feijoada, or barbecued vegetables. It also pairs beautifully with rich, fatty fish, lamb, and dishes featuring creamy mushroom sauces or mature cheeses.
