SMWS RW3.6 “Truly a Flavour Bomb” is a single-cask, cask-strength American rye whiskey from New York, independently bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. Distilled on April 24, 2016, it spent its first 3 years in new charred oak before being transferred for approximately two additional years into a first-fill ex-Applejack barrel. It was bottled at 58.9% ABV, with an outturn of only 181 bottles.
Food Pairing: Barbecue pork, glazed ribs, sharp cheddar, apple pie, cherry pie, roasted nuts and dark chocolate.
Tasting Notes: Rich, fruity and spicy, combining red apple, dark fruit and rye spice with caramelized sweetness and distinctive apple-brandy cask influence.
Nose: Red apple, blackberry, spicy cherry pie, brown bread, honey and leather.
Palate: Demerara sugar, vanilla, orange, toffee, plum jam, blackcurrant and warming rye spice.
Finish: Long and warming with dark fruit, caramelized sugar, spice and lingering apple notes.
Serve: Enjoy neat or add a small amount of water to open the cask-strength whisky.
