The Smeg ECF00 is a manual espresso machine made in Italy, wrapped in the brand's unmistakable 50's Style curves. At just under six inches wide, it slips onto the tightest countertop, yet it carries the essentials serious espresso demands: a 15-bar pump, a Thermoblock heating system, and a proper 51mm stainless steel portafilter. If you want true espresso at home without surrendering half your counter, this is the machine that does exactly that — beautifully.
Built for the Shot
- Thermoblock heating system: Water is heated on demand and held at optimal brewing temperature, so the machine is ready about 60 seconds after you switch it on. Coffee temperature is adjustable across three levels (low, medium, high) to suit your roast.
- 15-bar pump: Delivers consistent pressure for a correct extraction and a rich, persistent crema, shot after shot.
- 51mm stainless steel portafilter: Comes with three filters — single shot, double shot, and a paper pod (ESE) filter — so you can brew from freshly ground coffee or the convenience of pods.
- One Touch controls: Dedicated single and double espresso buttons pull your programmed shot with a single press — no guesswork, no babysitting.
Thoughtful Everyday Details
- Removable 1.1 L water tank: A 37.2 fl. oz. reservoir with an empty-tank alarm, so a dry pump never catches you mid-shot.
- Passive cup warmer: The stainless steel top tray keeps your espresso cups at serving temperature, protecting the crema when the shot hits the cup.
- Removable drip tray: Lift it out to fit taller cups and glasses, or to rinse it clean in seconds.
- Smart maintenance: A descaling alarm, adjustable water hardness settings (with a test strip included), and selectable auto stand-by at 10, 20, or 30 minutes keep the machine healthy and efficient without you thinking about it.
- Included accessories: A combined coffee measure and tamper plus the water hardness test strip — everything you need to pull your first shot out of the box.
Espresso, Distilled
The ECF00 is a dedicated espresso machine — there's no steam wand, just an uncompromised focus on the shot itself. That focus is what keeps it this compact and this simple to live with. If lattes and cappuccinos are part of your routine, pair it with a standalone milk frother and you'll have a full café setup that still barely touches your counter space.
With its glossy black finish, chrome-plated base, and stainless steel accents, the Smeg ECF00 espresso machine is as much a design object as it is a daily workhorse — retro Italian style backed by real brewing credentials.
